Collaboration in Action
The Canadian Parks Collective for Innovation and Leadership (CPCIL) and the Institute for Environmental Sustainability at Mount Royal University are pleased to support the Canadian Committee of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (CCIUCN) in hosting their 2021 AGM as a Virtual Open House. By holding a virtual event, we aim to decrease our carbon footprint, increase accessibility for participants, and support social distancing during the pandemic.
CCIUCN VIRTUAL AGM & OPEN HOUSE

To invite and advance opportunities for the CCIUCN to better serve, attract, engage and retain active conservation community involvement from Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities.
Message from the CCIUCN Chair(s)
Welcome to our annual forum and AGM. We are a collective impact community of Government, Indigenous, Civil Society and Corporate organisations and individuals, united by our passion for a thriving nature rich future. IUCN is the global authority on the status of the natural world and the measures needed to safeguard it for future generations, and your participation is greatly appreciated.
The board and I would like to personally thank you for finding time to contribute. There is no more critical challenge for the global community than to understand and secure a future for nature, so that humanity and all life on Earth may continue to prosper. Our community of practice enhances peoples’ lives, it enhances food and water security, helps tackle climate change and contributes to securing human rights.
The Canadian Committee of IUCN exists to bring people, organizations and ideas together with the common goal of protecting biodiversity in Canada. By supporting Canadian biodiversity, we can ensure a brighter future for wildlife and the habitats in which they live.
Our vision: A world where Canadians value and conserve nature!
Mission: Working together to inform, connect and promote conservation actions and policies in Canada that advance the work of the IUCN.
Our work in Canada informs and contributes to Challenges, Programme Areas and Targets that can only be addressed and advanced through the contributions of the different parts of IUCN – our Members, whether NGOs, Indigenous Peoples Organizations, States, or Government Agencies, our National and Regional Committees of Members, our experts in the Commissions, and our Secretariat – working together.
Our packed AGM agenda focuses on priorities identified by our members and board that contribute to the global program. We will be sharing our successes, and challenging ourselves to work harder and smarter where we need to improve. Together we will be exploring, the contributions of the Union, COVID impacts and opportunities, Growing Indigenous Voices and Empowering Young Professionals.
As we learn, from and with each other, coast-to-coast-to-coast, let us do so in a spirit of collaboration and gratitude. We have hard work to do, but we are fortunate to have so many dedicated, creative, smart people with good hearts, who are passionate about nature conservation.
