Are Western Goals and Beliefs Compatible with Sustainability?

Are Western Goals and Beliefs Compatible with Sustainability?

Dr. Lynn Oliphant, professor emeritus, University of Saskatchewan, will argue that the growth in the human enterprise resulting from western society’s basic beliefs and goals is at the root of virtually all of the current existential threats we face. These threats range from the looming climate crisis and loss of biodiversity to global pandemics and war.

The Sustainability Speakers Series is a monthly event hosted by Saskatchewan Environmental Society volunteers and the Saskatoon Public Library. These environmentally-themed presentations are free for all to attend at Frances Morrison Library (311 23rd St. E., Saskatoon) or from the comfort of your own home over Zoom. Talks, including the Q+A portion, start at 7:00pm and end by 8:30pm. More information can be found on the Saskatoon Library’s online calendar
