About this event

Join the Lethbridge Public Library, and Tymmarah Mackie to learn more about equity, diversity, and inclusion. These sessions will provide participants with a robust, shared understanding of what we talk about when we refer to equity, diversity and inclusion, and why equity, diversity and inclusion are keys to the success of organizations as well as individuals.

Tymmarah (Tymm) Mackie is an Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Expert. She has worked and volunteered in the industry for over 15 years and is considered a subject matter expert across Canada, providing support, advice and training to municipalities, universities, libraries, and other organizations. She has a Master’s degree in Intercultural & International Communication and is a Certified Human Rights Facilitator and KAIROS Blanket Exercise Facilitator.

As the Program Manager of Welcoming and Inclusive Communities Tymm supported Alberta municipalities involved with Canada’s Coalition of Inclusive Municipalities. She was also a member of the Coalition’s National Advisory Committee.

Tymm has developed diversity strategies, action plans, employment equity policies, and an employee training program. She has established and supported corporate diversity teams, employee resource groups and community networks. She has created an internal interpreters program, inclusive language manual, and handbook for supporting transitioning employees.

She was presented a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Club of Edmonton Strathcona “in appreciation of tangible and significant assistance given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world.” She was also nominated for a Women of Excellence Award in Human Services, as well as Diversity Practitioner of the Year.

Tymm is delighted to be working with the Lethbridge Public Library delivering training and information sessions about equity, diversity, and inclusion related topics.
