The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is joining forces with Nature Saskatchewan and Birds Canada to give you a virtual tour of one of the most unique areas in Saskatchewan!

Located in southwest Saskatchewan, the Great Sandhills contain one of the largest sets of active sand dunes in Canada. Rising high above the terrain, the Great Sandhills cover 1,900 square kilometres. Native grasses, trees and shrubs, such as aspen, willow and sagebrush, flank the dune formations along with a diverse community of plant and wildlife species, many of which are considered at risk both provincially and federally.

This unique area has many conservation organizations monitoring the status of the plants and wildlife that live here, as well as creating plans to help conserve the land and the biodiversity that it sustains. NCC in Saskatchewan recently finalized a plan that will allow for land conservation in the area to occur on a sound scientific basis.

During this webinar, you will hear about learn about what the Great Sandhills are, why they are important both culturally and environmentally, as well as current conservation efforts that are ongoing in the area. This event will also feature guests from Nekaneet First Nation.
