What you will do

Reporting to the Guest Experience Manager, the successful candidate will be an Ambassador for NB Parks. You will be responsible for:

Developing, creating, and managing social media content and communication for Hopewell Rocks in both official languages
Assisting in planning, creating, and designing marketing products in both official languages
Assisting in website management and development
Working with influencers to develop compelling story ideas, in conjunction with Department’s Parks Marketing Coordinator and Travel Media team
Maintaining a safety culture through the promotion, training, and enforcement of all health and safety policies throughout the park
Hosting on-site media, and other special guests
Assisting in acting as a site spokesperson for various media
Ensuring Parks brand guidelines and relevant acts and policies are adhered to
Assuming the role of duty manager as required
Other duties as assigned

Need to have

Post-secondary diploma in one or more of the following fields of study: marketing, journalism, graphic design, and photography

Experience in photography/videography

The Email and Website Marketing Assistant oversees Outward Bound Canada’s email marketing program, including designing and sending email blasts, e-newsletters, and automated emails. Receive, build, test, and flawlessly execute email marketing requests from the marketing, fundraising, outreach (including Training Academy), and human resources, teams.
Build and maintain automated emails and templates ensuring the content is up-to-date and the emails target the right audience at the most optimal time and support with content creation
Utilize proper templates, ensure emails are mobile responsive, links are working, and content follows OBC’s brand guidelines and e-marketing best practices, including adherence to CASL and other relevant legislation
Manage e-mail marketing audiences within MailChimp and OBC’s CRM, reflecting opt-outs and various preferences.
Monitor and optimize email marketing KPIs such as open and click-through rates, and share insights with the broader marketing team.
Maintain line of sight into the organizational content calendar to anticipate deliverables and raise any issues around volume or crowding of requests for each target audience.
Manage the project workflow and ensure that internal stakeholders understand and respect the production processes and timeline requirements.
Work with others on the marketing team to set up tracking IDs and UTM parameters to track campaign conversions.
Contribute to campaign reporting to business units, specifically around email marketing using platform reports.
Plan, execute and measure A/B testing to provide recommendations to the marketing team.
Regularly update and publish content on the OBC website based on marketing, fundraising, sales and outreach, and human resources requests.
Use pre-existing templates, and publish new web pages as needed.
Design, revise, test, and bring live landing pages for specific campaigns.
Plan, execute and measure A/B testing to improve SEM and user experience to provide recommendations to the marketing team.

Job Description

Content Development & Copywriting

Work closely with subject matter experts and product specialists to develop & design demand generation content. Content includes, but is not limited to product sell sheets, assets for social media/web, website copy, nurture emails, blog posts, whitepapers, eBooks, press releases, brochures and ad placement copy.
Research industry publications and competitors to better understand the environmental workforce landscape look for cross-promotional opportunities.
Stay current with best practices on marketing communications and apply knowledge to impact campaign tactics.
Email Marketing

Set up automated drip nurturing campaigns, send newsletter blasts, announcements and offers that generate positive engagement and facilitate business development discussions.
Implement a testing framework that addresses continuous improvement criteria in terms of customer segmentation, personalization, layout, calls to action, headlines and eBlast scheduling.
Maintain, grow subscriber and customer database including monitoring of behavioural and profile scoring, CASL requirements and activity tagging.
Develop audience segments and assist with list management.
Website Optimization

Optimize and create website and landing page content based on relevant and current search engine optimization best practices.
Leverage user experience fundamentals to develop page content that minimizes visitor barriers and entices action-oriented engagement such as new subscribers or product leads.
Execute minor website development changes through the WordPress CMS.
Program Development Support

Develop creative marketing campaigns to fill program funnels, drive applications and qualify marketing leads while assisting with customer conversions.
Assist product specialists with execution of in-person events and tradeshows including promotion, collateral development, and message syndication.
Other special project assistance may be required.

Maintain dashboard of marketing campaigns including promotions across email, Google Ads, industry publications, newswire platforms, company website, LinkedIn, Facebook or other relevant online platforms.
Regular measurement of ROI and other metrics regarding product message syndication.

The NB Parks team is looking for students to fill a variety of positions. You will have the opportunity to spend time outdoors, be creative, welcome our guests and be part of their park experience. Some positions require customer service, retail experience and/or experience performing manual tasks. For lifeguard positions, you must meet the prerequisite for the National Lifeguard Service (NLS) – waterfront course (minimum 16 years of age, Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid (must be current) from a recognized organization).*

*Note: You will be required to attend and successfully complete the NLS – waterfront course.

Digital Marketing And Public Outreach Assistant

We are seeking a savvy and enthusiastic Digital Media and Public Outreach Assistant who can engage Manitobans in our conservation campaigns online and in person.

Your primary responsibility is to convince individuals to take action on our campaigns and to expand our supporter base in Manitoba. You will also work to grow our community of like-minded conservationists by helping people appreciate the value of wilderness through events like guided hikes, outdoor learning experiences and skate nights.

This is a full-time one-year term position which may become permanent. The salary range will be $18-20/hour for a 37.5 hour week and includes a health/dental package after 3 months of employment.

Some evening and weekend work will be required.

Digital Marketing Responsibilities:

Manage social media feeds and lead event promotion.
Create content — including blogs, graphics and videos — to build community and spark engagement.
Perform website updates.
Identify and engage social media influencers in our campaigns.
Use A/B testing, segmented audiences and other tools to test, monitor & evaluate  campaign performance.
Work with the communications director to rapidly adjust campaigns as needed to achieve results.
Produce regular metrics reports with actionable insights.
Consistently innovate by looking for ways to improve processes, test new content, and research new platform features and technologies.

Public Outreach Responsibilities

Host outreach events such as guided hikes and skate nights.
Engage the public using outreach tables at farmer’s markets and other high traffic areas like the river walk or (in summer) beaches.
Run contests and distribute prizes.

Experience managing social media platforms and developing content.
Working knowledge of WordPress and general comfort with web design.
Strong knowledge of Social Media principles and best practices for communications and social media messaging.
Demonstrated graphic design skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English including experience in public speaking and/or delivering presentations.
Ability to listen actively to and respect, consider and incorporate the views of others.
Ability to think creatively to find solutions and see opportunities.
Organized, professional, and reliable.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Strong interpersonal skills, positive work attitude, and collaborative working style.
Self-initiating and thrives in an independent working environment.
Experience in the non-profit sector is an asset but not required.
Physical & Other Demands

The ability to work flexible hours and occasionally travel within Manitoba.
Will be expected to perform outreach work on some evenings and weekends.
Will be required to obtain first aid certification: training will be paid for by the employer.
Ability to work from home or in an open-plan office (we are currently working primarily remotely due to COVID-19.)

Digital Marketing & Communications Coordinator

Sea Smart is a Vancouver-based charity that delivers innovative, engaging education programs based on science and current ocean issues to empower people to be environmental champions across Canada and beyond. About the Role

Sea Smart is looking for a creative Digital Marketing and Communications Coordinator who is excited to build up Sea Smart’s brand awareness and community across Canada and beyond. You will be in charge of developing and implementing a Digital Marketing Strategy that includes organic and paid ad campaigns, communications (social media, blogs, email marketing) and creating marketing assets. If you are highly motivated to achieve results, driven to do great work and adaptable to support and lead a variety of initiatives, then this is the role for you. This individual is detail oriented with first class writing skills and enjoys creating content that converts.

A great candidate for this role is self-motivated and continually researching the best channels and methods to promote digital content. They can also be described as a team player, able to catch whatever we may throw at them and run with it effectively with a strong ability to communicate clearly on all tasks and given expectations, particularly in the case of short deadlines. They also have a keen desire to learn about how we can connect kids and families to nature, boost program registrations and donations, while elevating these with proven marketing strategies.

Key Responsibilities

You are in charge of developing, managing and executing a Digital Marketing Strategy that includes:

Communications (65%)

  • Create digital marketing content in order to drive and meet campaign objectives and goals
    • Plans and creates content calendars
    • Copywrites and ensures messaging/storytelling is all adapted to various markets
  • Work with the team and external vendors (where needed) to excel marketing tactics
  • Plan, execute, and manage all social media campaigns on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
  • Develop and implement email marketing strategies to increase conversions to program registrations or donations, including monthly newsletters to our community
  • Write monthly blogs on highly topical events or subjects to drive traffic to our website
  • Manage ongoing monthly and quarterly reporting, ensuring KPIs are being met for various channels and programs
  • Update Sea Smart website
  • Create of marketing assets for the website, email, and other platforms
  • Assist with the creation of pitch decks, presentations and communications (internal and external) collateral
  • Other duties as requested by the Executive Director


Organic and paid ad campaigns (35%)

● Develop and implement campaigns that will drive revenue to Sea Smart

● Plan, create, execute and manage our Google Ads account

● Be an expert in organic and paid programs to be deployed on the best platforms to reach the Sea Smart community/audience. This includes but is not limited to Facebook, Instagram and Google search (adwords, google display network etc.)

● Manage ongoing monthly and quarterly reporting, ensuring KPIs are being met for various campaigns Qualifications:

● Undergraduate degree or diploma in marketing, communications, business or related field.

● 3+ years of digital marketing experience

● Understanding of the customer purchasing journey and how to engage at each stage

● Uses creative approaches to support marketing and communications challenges

● Experience with Adobe CS and/or Canva

● Experience working with CMS like Squarespace, wordpress and others

● Knowledge and experience in executing and creating plans for owned digital and paid digital media including but not limited to: ○ Social media ○ SEM/SEO ○ Email marketing

● Demonstrates collaborative behavior and ability to maintain productive and effective working relationships with engagement, planning and creative teams

● Exhibits strong communication skills with the ability to present information in verbal, written or visual form to a variety of audiences

● Ability to take initiative and assume responsibility, and to simultaneously support multiple projects in varying stages

● Desire to understand and provide insights from data

Term of Appointment

Sea Smart’s core working hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm PST, with alternating Fridays off. The standard hours for this role will be 37.5 hours during the 5-day week, and 30 hours during the 4-day week. This position is fully remote but we require staff to attend all virtual internal and external meetings as well as be available via Slack and email during Sea Smart’s core hours. The working hours for individual staff can be flexible pending discussion and approval from the Executive Director. As an organization with client-facing roles, working with a younger and vulnerable population, we believe the COVID-19 vaccination adds a layer of protection that complements the extensive and necessary health and safety protocols that have been recommended by Public Health. With this in mind, we currently require all Sea Smart employees to be fully vaccinated. Please indicate in your application if you currently have at least two COVID-19 vaccine doses.
