Beach Education Programs Coordinator Peninsula Streams & Shorelines is a charitable non-profit organization that is located in North Saanich at the Institute for Ocean Sciences. Peninsula Streams & Shorelines restore and protect aquatic ecosystems throughout Greater Victoria. Our goal is to achieve healthy aquatic habitats that support self-sustaining populations of native species in freshwater and marine environments using a watershed “Headwaters to Deepwaters” approach. On-going programs include: stream, estuary and beach monitoring & restoration, enhancement of fish passage, restoring salmon stocks, as well as a variety of educational and stewardship programs. Peninsula Streams & Shorelines is an important and highly respected environmental advisory body known throughout Vancouver Island. The organization offers numerous volunteer opportunities and volunteer members are an integral part of the organization.
Peninsula Streams & Shorelines is seeking a Beach Education Programs Coordinator to join our team of committed environmental professionals. The Beach Education Programs Coordinator plans and implements supports fieldwork activities in and around estuaries and shorelines, including monitoring, clean ups and restoration.
The Coordinator is responsible for updating and maintaining forage fish egg survey data, sample analysis, data entry and assists in delivering educational programs for students. The Coordinator will manage a cadre of over 50 forage fish egg survey volunteers with technical, administrative and equipment support. In addition, this position will be required to participate in fundraising programs, grant-writing and reporting tasks.
