The Business Operations and Information Services Supervisor (BOISS) is a seasonal leadership position at Writing-on-Stone/ Áísínai’pi that supports the service delivery of operations at Writing-on-Stone/Áísínai’pi a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Roles assigned to the BOISS include supporting Park Operations staff with timely ordering of materials and supplies, administering the campground reservation/registration service, leading front-line visitor centre and camp store operations and supporting park retail operations, recruitment, and training, and supervising seasonal information staff and information services. The BOISS will also provide support in the development of print and non-personal media marketing, promotions and website updates.
Provide administrative functions relating to the Visitor Services & Park Operations programs including revenue processing, coordinating purchasing and orders of brochures, maps, office supplies and other materials. Admin tasks related to staff supervision and developing communication in response to park inquiries.
Leads information services (personal information delivery and provides support for online and print media) in order to provide accurate, timely, and appropriate information to visitors and stakeholders to ensure safe and enjoyable use of park facilities and services. Providing input and supporting visitor center and display upgrades and updates.
The position supports the operation and delivery of the campground reservation/registration service at Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park utilizing the reserve.albertaparks.ca (RAP) system for managing campground usage and working with other park staff to manage compliance and maintenance concerns.
The BOISS supports the delivery of retail operations at Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park by developing operational plans including pricing structure, selecting vendors, determining inventory type and quantity, and facility operating hours for the visitor center and campground store.
Supports the Visitor Centre Coordinator in the marketing and promotion of Writing-on-Stone Provincial Parks programs, services and facilities.
Provides leadership and supervision to seasonal staff to ensure high-quality customer service, the dissemination of accurate and appropriate information, and the efficient and accurate handling of reservations and sales.
The BOISS supports program and strategic planning related to the Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park business and information operations through the review and evaluation of programs and services at the park. They support the broader Visitor Services teams in a variety of park project and priorities.
Education as per Minimum Recruitment Standards
Two year diploma in a related field; equivalencies will be considered

Well developed organizational and time management skills
Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on providing clear and accurate information for park visitors
Strong writing skills and proven ability to write, edit, and evaluate materials for public audiences
The ability to form strong and effective working relationships with immediate co-workers and other Alberta Parks staff.
An ability to adapt and flex with change at any stage in work planning and delivery.
Working knowledge of accounting tasks and an understanding of financial administration.
Experience and confidence in public speaking and engaging in conversations with customers
Proven problem solving skills
Exceptional knowledge of and experience in computer use and a variety of computer software (including but not limited to Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Publisher) required
Valid Standard First-Aid & CPR level C + AED certificate
Valid Class 5 driver’s license
Defensive driving certificate
WHMIS 2015 certificate
Assets (the nice to have):
Knowledge of Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park and its surrounding area
Knowledge and experience with the Blackfoot culture, protocols and people a strong asset
Knowledge of tourism services and experiences available within the parks’ region
Knowledge of the retail industry
$29.06 – $37.78 per hour
Wage employees receive 11.2% in addition to regular wage earnings in lieu of benefits and vacation leave.
5.2 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays
6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay
Term of Employment: April 1st – end of October with a potential for extension
Staff housing available
This position requires the incumbent to work some evenings, weekends and holidays.
