Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic problem solver that loves to rise up to a challenge. As the Regional Operations Support Manager, you and your team provide operational and program delivery support to a diverse set of operational programs focused on providing direct front line services to the public in provincial parks and recreation areas dispersed across a broad geographic area. Primary areas that you and your team will provide support in include:

–    Contract procurement
–    Contract management support
–    OHS program coordination
–    Fleet and staff accommodation management
–    Operational planning and issues management

 

In addition you will also manage the Region’s Infrastructure Management Program and Recreation and Resource Management Coordination Program.

 

The Infrastructure Management Program ensures the long-term functionality, ongoing accessibility, and safe operation of infrastructure, facilities, and equipment, including regulated water and wastewater systems, in an effective and cost efficient manner and in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. Primary responsibilities include:

–    Coordination of repairs in response to asset failures
–    Preventative maintenance planning and coordination
–    Provision of technical and regulatory compliance support for potable and wastewater systems

 

The Recreation and Resource Management Coordination Program ensures that consistent and strategically aligned recreation and resource management goals and objectives intended to facilitate safe, environmentally and socially sustainable, and enjoyable public use of parks throughout the Region are established and met. The main responsibilities of this program include:

–    Recreation focused spatial and program planning
–    Management of regulatory approvals for recreation and tourism related land uses in parks and protected areas
–    Coordination of permitting for various activities – e.g. special events, guiding, etc.

 

Through your work as a member of the Alberta Parks team you will make a meaningful contribution to Albertans’ quality of life and ensure that parks remain healthy and accessible for future generations.
Qualifications
Required qualifications (these must be met to be considered for the position):

University graduation (4 year degree) in business administration, park/recreation facility administration/management or a related field supplemented by a minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field. Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis.
Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent
Criminal Record Check
Desirable qualifications:

Previous experience in the following areas:procurement and contract management (preferably in a public sector or large corporate setting).
budget management and financial administration experience
leading diverse technical and professional staff
synthesizing information/data to provide briefings/make recommendations to executive leadership level
project management
Ability to build effective relationships with internal clients at various levels across the organization

Salary
$3,062.51 – $4,121.25 biweekly ( $79,931.51 – $107,565)
Notes
This position is a full-time, permanent role.

 

The standard hours of work are 36.25 hours per week.
