Education Officer – Intergenerational Gardening

(Canada Summer Jobs, 8 week term)

 

Location: Working from home in Halifax, NS.

 

We are looking to employ an intern who has a passion for mentorship and gardening for the role of an Education Officer – Intergenerational Gardening. The candidate will support CWF’s WILD Generations Gardening Club program and coordinate outreach initiatives promoting gardening for wildlife mentorship opportunities with organizations working with seniors and youth. The intern will create workshop materials for program delivery and resources for community gardening. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a pilot program that promotes volunteerism, social inclusion and gardening among seniors and youth. The intern will acquire knowledge on how to garden in a wildlife friendly way and develop skills in project development and implementation.

 

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Research and write content for CWF’s intergenerational gardening program (blogs, educational activities, info graphics, toolkit)
Assist with the design and execution of a national outreach plan to raise awareness about CWF’s intergenerational gardening program
Distribute CWF’s outreach and education materials to organizations working with seniors and youth
Assist in developing monitoring and evaluation toolkit
Respond to inquiries where necessary
Support program delivery and administration
Represent CWF at suitable events
Other tasks as needed
ELIGIBILITY:

This position is funded by Canada Summer Jobs, a youth employment program of the Government of Canada. All candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements. Candidates who do not meet all requirements will not be considered:

Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period.
Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of employment; and;
Must have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial and territorial legislation and regulations.
Qualifications

Secondary or post-secondary education
Field of studies: creative arts, adult education, natural sciences, marketing, environmental sciences or related
Ability to multitask
Strong research and writing skills
Experience in adult education
Work Conditions:

Fixed-term for 8 weeks
Full-time at 35 hours per week
Wage: $13.35 per hour
Location: This role will be working from home, based in Halifax, NS.
Anticipated start date: May 9 or May 14, 2022
