Location: Working from home in Ottawa, ON.

We are seeking an innovative Gardening Educator with a background in video production to support gardening for wildlife programs at CWF. The intern will have the opportunity to create digital educational content on gardening and wildlife for different audiences. The candidate will help develop fun, engaging and influencer content illustrating the impact of conservation gardening on our environment. While working at CWF, the candidate will learn about wildlife conservation from experts in the field while developing their videography, creative and storytelling skills.

 

Tasks and Responsibilities

Film at CWF’s wildlife-friendly demonstration garden
Research and develop experiential video content on gardening
Create web series on pollinator conservation for school-age kids
Assist in developing outreach and promotional materials for gardening programs
Research and develop content for CWF’s gardening for wildlife Facebook group
Attend gardening events when required
Reach out to groups and organizations interested in gardening
Other tasks as needed
Qualifications

Secondary or post-secondary education
Field of Studies preferred:  creative arts, education, natural sciences, environmental sciences or related
Other skills

Storytelling, editing and video creation
knowledge of social media marketing
Creative and enjoy the outdoors
Knowledge on how to garden for wildlife
 

ELIGIBILITY:

This position is funded by Canada Summer Jobs, a youth employment program of the Government of Canada. All candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements. Candidates who do not meet all requirements will not be considered:

Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period.
Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of employment; and;
Must have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial and territorial legislation and regulations.
Work Conditions:

Fixed-term for 8 weeks
Full-time at 35 hours per week
Wage: $15 per hour
Location: This role will be working from home, based in Ottawa, ON.
Anticipated start date: May 9 or May 14, 2022
