Key Responsibilities of the Role:
Patrolling of habitats throughout shift times
Communicating with public to educate them on wildlife issues
Presenting scheduled Ranger Interpretive sessions
Assisting in maintaining the record keeping system
Implement and enforce public safety precautions of visitors and staff regarding wildlife issues
Establishing a rapport with the general public to foster an appreciation of wildlife and the role of the Grouse Mountain
Refuge for Endangered Wildlife
Providing care and maintenance of assigned wildlife habitats and wildlife
Assisting with construction and deconstruction of habitats
Other duties as required
Post-secondary courses in biology, zoology or related subjects
One year’s experience working with wildlife
Experience in public presentations and education.
Knowledge of indigenous wildlife and conservation issues
Knowledge of wildlife husbandry and restraint procedures
Knowledge of general safety and hygiene protocols
Self-motivated and ability to work independently
Good oral and written communication skills
Ability to work weekends and evenings
Successful candidate must complete a criminal record check once offered the position.
The check must be completed prior to start date if you are 19 years and older. Grouse Mountain will assist you with the process.
