The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is looking for an enthusiastic Donor Relations and Engagement Officer to join our Saskatchewan Region, a team committed to conserving natural spaces today, and for generations to come.

Position Summary

With the goal of growing NCC’s community of supporters, the successful candidate will help us deliver a comprehensive donor relations, stewardship, and engagement program. The primary objective of this position is to provide comprehensive donor relations support to the Saskatchewan development team, with a focus on fundraising support, effective database management and reporting, event support and donor stewardship efforts.

The successful candidate will also be the main contact and relationship builder for leadership giving donors ($1k-$10k), focused on providing this cohort with great donor experiences. The incumbent will be the regional lead for solicitation strategies with the National Integrated Marketing & Development team to enhance and grow revenue and current and prospective donors in Saskatchewan’s leadership giving pool.


Donor Relations & Fundraising Support (50%)

Support a culture in the SK region focused on donor relations and stewardship, such that all activities and systems support service excellence with the donor base.
Responsible for donor recognition and stewardship products (e.g., thank you letters, donor recognition lists, and working with the Communications Manager to support the creation and distribution of the annual impact report, etc.).
Create, implement, and evaluate strategies that support the development team and lead to sound donor cultivation, recognition, and stewardship, including supporting National donor relations, stewardship, engagement, and events programs where needed.
Work with the Engagement Manager in the delivery of donor engagement activities and outreach initiatives.
Responsible for the tracking of donor relationships in Raiser’s Edge for the SK development team and working with the national development operations team, assisting with prospect research and prospect management needs.
Maintain thorough and accurate database records and with the national development operations team, creating fundraising reports and other database reports as needed.
Process departmental gifts and acknowledgement letters by using data from Raisers’ Edge to complete the development portion of revenue forms for review by the regional finance team and the Director of Development and to draft acknowledgement letters for development staff to share with donors.
Provide database support to senior management staff for committee/board and team meetings, including data collecting, document creation, donor research and donor prep.

Leadership Annual Giving (20%)

The Donor Relations & Engagement Coordinator will be the primary relationship holder with SK’s leadership annual donor pool ($1k-$10k) and is responsible for the in-person cultivation and stewardship of these donors, aimed at deepening donors’ relationships with the organization to increase giving and foster planned/estate gifts.
Support the solicitation efforts of SK’s leadership annual donor pool ($1k-$10k) by working with the national integrated marketing and fundraising team, acting as the lead contact in coordinating content and information needed for appeals.

Engagement & Events Support (20%)

Supporting the Engagement Manager, in consultation with the development team and conservation staff, in brainstorming creative and impactful donor engagement opportunities through a variety of delivery vehicles (events, property tours, videos, virtual events and social media outreach, reports, etc.).
Assist with coordination of campaign, donor cultivation, and other special events logistics.
Assist with the planning of donor receptions.
Assist with the planning of volunteer events and attend volunteer events to cultivate donor relationships.

Grants Support (10%)

Support an operational plan for management of grants across the province and coordinate the plan with conservation and development staff.
Gather conservation staff-written content for grant applications and support application submission.
Establish checks and balances on grant outcomes with conservation and development staff and senior management.
Coordinate with staff and senior management to ensure grant deadlines and reporting outcomes are managed with precision and care and are met on time and on-budget.
Coordinate grant reports in consultation with conservation staff, finance and the development and communications team, and to ensure submission within defined deadlines.

Position Requirements

Post secondary education with university level preferred. Certificate or training in development / charitable or fundraising related field is an asset.
3 years minimum experience in a fundraising-related role.
Exceptional verbal and written communications skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Proficient with Raiser’s Edge or similar fundraising database.
Project management skills with a demonstrated ability to prepare and manage timelines, goals and expectations wisely.
High level of attention to detail.
Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.
A demonstrated awareness of conservation issues in Saskatchewan and a passion for nature.
Ability to work and travel within a flexible schedule, including occasional weekends and evenings.
A valid driver’s license.
