Reporting to the Partner Relations Manager, and supervised by the Partner Relations Specialist, Eastern Canada, the Partner Relations Coordinator will help to support, grow and strengthen the Ocean Wise Seafood (OWS) partnership program in Eastern Canada. In addition, this coordinator is responsible for organizing and implementing OWS-branded and collaborative events and managing volunteer participation in Eastern Canada. This position is a full-time permanent remote role located in Toronto, Ontario (locations within the Greater Toronto/Hamilton Area will be considered).

You can expect to apply your skills and qualifications through the following key accountabilities:

Planning & Development

Contributing to the OWS strategy and work plan, and the overall Conservation Strategy for the Seafood and Fisheries Initiative, as designated and in areas of interest and expertise.
Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure positive working relationships;
Ensuring the delivery of key responsibilities as outlined in the individual workplan;
Actively participating in employee goal setting and performance review protocols as required by the organization.
Public & Stakeholder Engagement

Taking a lead role to coordinate and implement OWS-branded events such as, but not limited to, the Ocean Wise Seafood Festival and any previously run virtual or in-person events. This includes logistics, sponsorships, media engagement, partner coordination, product inventories, tracking metrics for success of the event and reporting out on final results;
Participating in and organizing support for collaborative events with partners or other businesses/organizations in the community to celebrate and promote sustainable seafood.
Representing OWS at local trade shows and events, as well as researching potential new opportunities for continued program exposure.
Creating and sharing content for regular social media posts (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook) relevant to OWS, ocean conservation, seafood sustainability, and partner activities in line with communication and social media strategy;
Acting as a spokesperson for OWS in a variety of media outlets, if and where needed.
Operations & Monitoring

Completing Seafood Audits for partners in a timely and accurate manner;
Providing continuous support to existing partners in the form of regular communications, support, advice, event attendance, re-audits, promotions and check-ins;
Managing and maintaining partner database on Salesforce, ensuring records are detailed, accurate and current and ensuring all OWS partner folders and files are up-to-date and accurate, reflecting the most complete information possible (including seafood audits, product proofs, marketing materials and more);
Growing the reach of the OWS program by researching and identifying potential new partners in Eastern Canada and onboarding those partners into the program;
Coordinating the delivery of invoices and collection of data related to fee payments from partners and ensuring payment through follow ups;
Managing OWS volunteers by identifying needs, defining projects and positions, and recruiting volunteers through several different sources.
Consciously improves the overall organization and its processes by:

Continually improving our impact on the environment and greening operations through support of EMS protocols;
Maintaining and supporting organizational safety standards;
Abiding by all organizational policies and procedures;
Providing constructive feedback and performing required self-evaluations;
Performing other duties of a similar nature or level.
The qualifications a successful candidate would possess include the following:

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Business, Marketing, Life Sciences, Environmental Sciences, or equivalent diploma/certificate or work experience.
1-2 years of high-performing sales and/or customer service experience – preferably within the food service industry (note this is primarily a sales and partnership management role).
Experience coordinating successful medium to large-scale events involving multiple industry stakeholders and the public.
French language skills an asset.
Technical Competencies

Positive and persuasive communication skills (verbal/written).
Excellent customer service skills and experience building relationships with businesses or individuals in a professional setting.
Strong interest in and an understanding of sustainable fisheries and aquaculture.
Demonstrated experience creating professional reports, proposals, and presentations.
Ability to be calm and flexible to problem solve in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent public speaking skills.
Understanding of enterprising non-profits, combining business marketing skills with a passion for making positive change.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment with minimal supervision and also in a team environment.
Ability to multi-task with keen attention to detail.
Strong computer skills are necessary as the incumbent uses a variety of software for operational, service management and related activities.
Knowledge of software such as Salesforce, Falcon, WordPress, Canva, Wordfly and active use of social media is an asset.
Ability to research and analyze data effectively.
Active demonstration and passion for the organization’s values, code of conduct, and mission.
Working Conditions

Remote work is necessary, a future physical office space could be established in Toronto that would allow for a hybrid work schedule.
The role may involve some regional travel.
Position is primarily non-physical in nature however some shifting and lifting of boxes is required and may also involve driving, flying, sitting, or standing.
Work is conducted via telephone/Microsoft Teams, meeting with fellow employees daily, and reviewing a significant amount of written or computer-based documentation.
A significant number of partner meetings and events are expected to be conducted off-site when safe to do so.
Concentration is required while working on computers and verifying the accuracy of documents and reports; there are possible interruptions and unpredictable deadlines and time constraints requiring urgent decisions to be made.
Non-standard working hours are a regular occurrence.
