While most government careers may not start with musical theatre, Daniella Rubeling started her career with the Alberta Parks in 2002 as a seasonal interpreter in Kananaskis Country. Combining her passions of science, music and education, it was honestly the best summer job in the world. What was only supposed to be a summer job in between finishing a BSc in Animal Biology and starting a Masters, turned into a full-time job supervising in the Interpretation program. Daniella completed her Masters in Environmental Education and Communication in 2008 while learning the ropes as a supervisor and working full-time. Successive opportunities and a passion for supporting the growth and development of her staff led to Daniella’s current position as the Interpretation and Education Team Lead for the Kananaskis Region. Currently she is exploring what it means to be a mother/wife/female leader all at the same time, how to improve our evaluation and metrics for educational/interpretive programming and how to shift workplace culture.
