The Value of Parks, Non Profit Park Partners (e.g Friends of…)
I am the Assistant Park Superintendent at Presqu’ile Provincial Park in Brighton, Ontario. Presqu’ile is a busy park located midway between Toronto and Ottawa, along the 401 corridor and on the shores of Lake Ontario. We have a large scope of operations at Presqu’ile, as the park has almost 400 campsites, a small Roofed Accommodation program with 3 Exploration Tents and a rental cottage, 2 Visitor Centres, a Park Store, a Discovery/Education program, and a Biodiversity program. We also have a very active Friends of Presqu’ile volunteer organization.
I have spent the past decade at Presqu’ile – beginning my Ontario Parks career as a maintenance student, then working at the Park Store. I spent one season supervising the Park Store before moving on to become the park’s Senior Operations Technician for two seasons. During this time I also became designated as a park warden. In 2016 I took an acting assignment as the Assistant Park Superintendent, and in 2018 was successful in permanently landing the position. For the past several years I have been on a number of committees and involved in a number of teams in the organization. I am the management rep and certified member for our Joint Health and Safety Committee, I have been the zone rep for the Ontario Parks Marketing Committee, and a zone rep for the Ontario Parks Merchandise Committee.
I try to spend much of my free time exploring other provincial parks in Ontario and have a passion for international travel as well.
